About the group

Main areas of reserach are the occurrences and risk factors for:

  • Osteoporosis
  • Respiratory diseases including Asthma
  • Diabetes type 2
  • Mental health
  • Adolescent health
  • Dementing disorders

We conduct studies on gene-environment interactions and life course epidemiology. We have started to conduct intervention studies in low to medium income countries, and have a long history of such designs from Norway, including several randomized controlled trials.

The reserach group has initiated- and is member of steering committees of large Norwegian studies:

  • Cohort of Norway (CONOR)
  • The Oslo Health Study (HUBRO)
  • Youth-2004
  • The Norwegian Mother and Child Cohort Study;  (Mo-Ba)

Cooperation

The group has initiated, and is currently co-ordinating cooperation in research and higher education between university of Oslo and institutions in occupied Palestinian territory, Tibet, Myanmar and DPR Korea. The aim is to build competence in research methodology among University staff and health personnel, and an over all aim is to improve health in society.
