Academic interests

I am an epidemiologist and biostatistician with a background in sport sciences.

My research interests are the epidemiology and risk factors of skin cancer, especially melanoma; the late-effects and well-being of childhood cancer survivors; and, the improvment of newborn screening procedures in cystic fibrosis. Because of my background in exercise and health sciences I have a special interest in promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle to prevent diseases and improve quality of life.

I am working with cancer registry data, cohort studies, newborn screening programmes and clinical trials to answer specific questions and solve problems within my field of interest. My overal aim is to implement our research findings into practice and reduce the disease burden of a society and improve the individual's quality of life.
