As Pro-Dean for Research and Innovation, Jan Bjaalie has overall responsibility for research and innovation at the Faculty.

Bjaalie is deputy to the Dean and represents the Dean's Office in matters relating to research and innovation within the Faculty and externally vis-à-vis collaborating units.

His tasks include research and innovation strategy, coordination among units nationally and internationally, cooperation between academia and the health, business, and research institute sector, and the government administration and relations with research funding organisations nationally and internationally.
