We have studied network growth processes in relation to sexual contact networks (de Blasio et al. PNAS 2007), and have developed a test for identification of preferential attachment and frailty driven growth in evolving networks (de Blasio et al. in press).

Further, we have modeled the impact of HPV vaccination on the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer in Norway (de Blasio et al. 2008) and Austria (Zechmeister et al. 2009).

We have developed a model for rotavirus transmission, which has been applied to test the impact of rotavirus vaccination in Kyrgyzstan (de Blasio et al. 2010). The overall influenza-related mortality in Norway is estimated at 910 excess deaths per season, primarily occuring in elderly (65+years) (Gran et al. 2010).
