The long term goals are to create a high quality scientific environment capable of producing cutting-edge data on how nutrients can promote health and prevent development of the common diseases like cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, cardio-vascular and inflammatory diseases.

One of the largest challenges in Norwegian life science is to obtain stable grant support for a continuous high quality research group with transfer of newly produced knowledge from one generation of students to the next.

To comply with these challenges our group has to collaborate with other research groups in Norway and globally as can be seen from my publication list. In particular it has been very fruitful to take part in EU-funded projects, although the national funding has been very limited for these projects.
