Nutrition and Chronic Diseases
The focus of this research group is to understand the roles of foods on growth, development, as well as prevention of life style diseases such as diabetes, and coronary heart disease. We are investigating the mechanisms of cellular transport and effects on cellular growth, function and metabolism of dietary lipids and other food constituents.
About the group
To this end my group is involved in two different projects, i) to understand the transport and metabolism of different fatty acids across the human placenta, and the pregnancy outcome and ii) the cardiprotective properties of fruits and vegetables. This research group at present has 2 PhD students, 1 postdoc, 1 technician and few number of national and international collaborators.
