Psychosocial Aspects of Somatic Disease

Our group investigates the interplay between psychological, biological and social factors in patients with somatic diseases (e.g. cardiovascular diseases, functional disorders, sleep disorders and depression), including the development and testing of interventions aimed at improving health and quality of life.

Our group investigates

  • Mental health including anxiety, depression, personality, insomnia and other psychological factors in somatic diseases.
  • Interrelationship between somatic and psychiatric morbidity (mechanisms).
  • Determinants of behavioural factors including adherence and communication aspects of different somatic diseases.
  • Development and testing of interventions aiming at improving health, adherence and quality of life in a variety of patient groups.
