Identified key player in the communication between the gut and body

An international group of researchers, including Tom Hemming Karlsen and his team at the Norwegian PSC Research Centre, have worked on identifying the key to the communication betwen the gut flora and the body. 

They have now discovered that the human vitamin D receptor gene is central to this regulation. The findings are published in Nature Genetics.
