Academic Interests

Socioeconomic inequality in health is within my core research interest, in addition to ageing research. At University of Oslo (UiO) I am working on a Norwegian Research Council funded dementia project; EL-GENIDEM, where the main aim is to investigate risk factors for dementia. This is a collaboration with researchers from University of Oslo, Norwegian Institute of Health (NIPH), University of Tromsø, Oslo University Hospital, Uppsala University, NTNU, and Karolinska Institute.

Higher education and employment history

PhD in epidemiology from UiO in 2006, MSc in biostatistics from NTNU in 1999. Worked as a researcher and epidemiologist at NIPH since 1999.

In addition to holding a position as researcher at UiO, I hold a position as senior researcher at The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH).

Awards

In 2008 I was awarded a 2 year National Institutes of Health (NIH) research grant in life-course epidemiology and stayed one year at University College London, UK, and one year at National Institute of Aging in Maryland, USA. I stayed abroad at Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam, Netherlands during my PhD.
