In this project, we examine the Norwegian courts' deliberations in hate crime cases.

Based on all judgments on the hate crime paragraph of the Norwegian penal code, § 185 a and b, that are available in LovData, we examine where the threshold for imposing a penalty is established, and which variables the courts weigh in on in their justifications for both acquittals and convictions.
