Cécile studied organic and biomolecular chemistry at the University of Montpellier, France. She dedicated her PhD to the synthesis and evaluation of biomimetic materials for tissue engineering applications. After her PhD, she joined the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany. There, in collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline, she developed chemical tools to elucidate the mode of action of drug candidates. Last year, she joined the Stevens group at Imperial College London.
She is now a joined postdoctoral fellow between the Stevens Group at Imperial College and the Krauss Group and the Scholz Group at UiO and OUS. During this fellowship, she will use the expertise of the three groups in biosensors and islet biology, combined to her own experience in biomaterials and chemical biology, to engineer a real-time insulin sensor and a biomaterial suitable for long-term preservation of insulin-producing islets. This will advance the development of a miniaturized pancreas model that will provide insight into diabetes and help identify drug candidates that could potentially regulate insulin levels.
