The most frequent cause of high blood pressure, hypertension, is increased activity in the sympathetic nervous system. In a rat model, we are exploring the underlying mechanisms leading to the development of the hypertensive disease.

About the group

Our experimental model is whole animal experiments on spontaneously hypertensive rats in comparison to normotensive rats. The sympathetic nervous system is activated, and factors, which influence the level of adrenergic activation as well as the concomitant cardiovascular response, are studied.
