Achievements

Research on neuroprotection

We are in the forefront of development of new treatment solutions for newborns suffering from perinatal hypoxic-ischemic brain injury. We have been taken part in development of induced therapeutic hypothermia and are part of the first group in the world to use xenon as a treatment option for those newborns.

Research on cardiovascular physiology

We are now able to record simultaneous and non-invasive measurement of cardiac stroke volumes from right and left side of the heart (Elstad, 2012).

There is no evidence of heat-induced vasoconstriction in human skin after passive whole body heat stress (Rein & Walløe, Submitted).
