Talk by Owen Marshall

Dr. Owen Marshall is a group leader at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research at the University of Tasmania, Australia. His research utilizes the fly brain as a model to study development and disease with a particular focus on the gene regulatory and epigenetic changes underlying these processes.

"New states of mind: the unexpected epigenetic states driving brain development and disease"

Chromatin, or the epigenetic packaging of DNA, is the fundamental means of controlling gene regulation through development. However, there remains disagreement in the field regarding the number and composition of chromatin states, and we still know little about how epigenetic remodelling influences brain development and disease. Hear more about Marshalls´ research on chromatin dynamics in the Drosophila brain.
