EBRAINS Data and Knowledge: Find and share data
EBRAINS Data and Knowledge services organises and describes data across modalities in a standardised way and by integrating data into the same reference space. Data can be compared, combined and analysed with tools and analytical workflows embedded in the platform.
Role of UiO
EBRAINS Data and Knowledge services relies on a metadata curation process that is being coordinated from the University of Oslo.
In the EBRAINS data curation team we develop the workflows and infrastructure for the curation services of EBRAINS.
Data is received from research groups in Europe and around the world. The data are multimodal, heterogenous and differentially organized, and need to be categorized and described in a standardized way through the curation process. The output of the process is data that can be discovered through the EBRAINS Find Data, Models, and Software service, viewed and analysed with integrated EBRAINS tools and workflows, and interpreted and reused in combination with other relevant datasets.
The metadata are managed and organized in the EBRAINS Knowledge Graph using the openMINDS metadata model developed in the Human Brain Project. The datasets undergo spatial registration to EBRAINS supported atlases for human and rodent brains, allowing searches based on anatomical location, visualisation in online atlas viewers, and use of modular workflows enabling researchers to analyse and model brain structure and function on large combinations of datasets.

Leader of the EBRAINS Curation team: Ida Aasebø, PhD, Nesys group. The UiO division of the EBRAINS Curation team has 5 full-time employees and includes 8 other part-time members. The EBRAINS Curation team has members also from Research Center Jülich - Germany and CNRS - Paris and is supported by technology developments at EPFL - Geneva and INCF - Stockholm.
