Every participant counts

Around 6300 adults between 18 and 80 years old are randomly drawn from the National Population Register to represent the Norwegian population in Norkost 4. Only people who are invited can participate.

We need participants from all over the country and at all ages. Food intake varies between people and from day to day. To us, all participants are equally important and we hope everyone wants to participate.

The fourth national dietary survey

Norkost 4 provides updated information on dietary habits in Norway. Data collected in the Norkost studies are used in a wide range of areas in research and for public health purposes in the Norwegian society, including how dietary habits change over time, and provide a basis for calculating the environmental footprint of the diet.

Three Norkost studies have previously been conducted in Norwegian adults: Norkost 3 in 2010/11, Norkost 2 in 1997 and Norkost 1 in 1993/94.

Norkost is financed and carried out by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and the University of Oslo.

In the first part of the project we are testing if the methods and the design we use are appropriate for collecting data in the second part of the study.
