Professor Steve Bova is a Professor and Group Leader at the Prostate Cancer Research Center, Institute of Biosciences and Medical Technology, BioMediTech, University of Tampere and Fimlab Laboratories, Tampere University Hospital in Finland.

He will give a talk titled, 'Leveraging the evolutionary history of metastatic prostate cancer'.

Jaime Castro-Mondragòn is a PhD student in Bioinformatics. The title of his talk is, 'Identification of Transcription Factors related to mammalian promoters with distal functions'.

Dr. Harald Binder, Professor, Institute of Medical Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, University Medical Center, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany, will present the lecture Two uses of stagewise regression: from landmarking in cancer patients to deep learning for SNPs.

M.Sc. Bertrand Simon, a joint PhD student from the EMBL-Hamburg and NCMM, will defend his thesis, "Structural and functional regulation of death-associated protein kinases activity by calcium/calmodulin binding" on March 14.

MRes Lisa Gerner at the Centre for Molecular Medicine Norway will be defending the thesis "An Exploration of the Structure and Function of Calcium/calmodulin-dependent kinase kinase 2 (CaMKK2) in Prostate Cancer"  for the degree of PhD.

This meeting is intended for NCMM group leaders, NCMM Associate Investigators/Young Associate Investigators, Board members and other stakeholders and scientific leaders. The meeting is planned from lunch-to-lunch.

M.Sc. Nora Valeska Lieske at NCMM will defend her thesis for the degree  philosophiae doctor (ph.d.): Modulation of Adaptive Immune Responses — Studies in infectious diseases and immune disorders.

M.Sc. Stalin Chellappa Gunasekaran at the Biotechnology Centre of Oslo will defend his theses for the degree philosophiae doctor (ph.d.): Human Regulatory T cells: Suppressive Function and Role in Pancreatic Cancer and Distal Bile Duct Cancer.

Master of Science Tianzhou Zhang at Department of Biosciences/ Biotechnology Centre will defend his dissertation for the PhD degree: Analysis of isoform specific functions of PKD1 and PKD3.
