Research shows that the recommendations from the Norwegian Health Authorities to prioritize early rehabilitation of patients with serious brain injury were followed up during the pandemic by the Southern and Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority. However, the content and frequency/intensity of rehabilitation may have been influenced by the pandemic; but currently, we do not have the information if this would lead to long-term consequences. Research also highlights the importance of patient involvement in the decision-making process and collaboration between healthcare services.

The Center TBI* prize for best research publication by junior researchers, was awarded to Cathrine Tverdal for her article on patients’ experience and satisfaction with discharge from trauma hospital. Tverdal's other article, about the possible effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on referral pattern, epidemiology or management, was selected as the Editors' choice of the November issue of the Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine (JRM).

*Center TBI is a large EU project in which CHARM is a partner.
