Insights into breast and colorectal cancer genetics from Australian population-based case-control-family studies
Speaker: John L. Hopper, Professor & Director, Centre for Molecular, Environmental, Genetic and Analytic (MEGA) Epidemiology, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, Austraila.
NB! Note the time.
Many genetic researchers have focussed on "high-risk" (actually multiple-case) families and therefore obtained a "biased" view of the world. We have conducted large scale population-based family studies of cases - and controls - unselected for family history. This talk will show the insights that have come from a taking a population perspective on genetics and properly taking into account how the families have been sampled, and the role genetics might make in saving lives.
