Else Charlotte Sandset is a consultant neurologist the Stroke Unit, Department of Neurology, Oslo University Hospital. She chairs the "Oslo Clinical Stroke Research Group," and is a senior researcher with the "Prehospital Acute Brain Programme" under the leadership of assistant professor Maren Ranhoff Hov with the Norwegian Air Ambulance Foundation. The overarching aim of the programme is to develop prehospital neurology.
Dr Sandset has completed post-doctoral fellowship at the George Institute for Global Health in Sydney, Australia and has also been a visiting fellow at the University of Nottingham, UK.
Dr Sandset is the current Secretary General of the European Stroke Organisation. She has broad editoral experience as the Vice Editor of the European Stroke Journal, ediotorial consultant of the Lancet Neurology, Section editor for Stroke and editorial board member of Neurology.
She is currently the main supervisor for 2 PhD students and a co-supervisor for 3 PhD students. She has previously been the co-supervisor for 3 PhD students at the University in Oslo and at the University of Sydney.
