John-Peder Escobar Kvitting received his M.D. at Linköping University, Sweden in 2002. He defended his Ph.D., in 2004 at Linköping University, with the title “Quantification of Cardiovascular Flow and Motion: Aspects of Regional Myocardial Function and Flow Patterns in the Aortic Root and the Aorta.” He trained in general and cardiothoracic surgery at Linköping University Hospital. From 2008-2010 he did a post-doctoral fellowship at the department of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, Stanford University School of Medicine under the supervision of Professor D. Craig Miller. He currently works as a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet and as an associated professor in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Oslo. His clinical and research interest are aortic valve repair, valve-sparing aortic root replacement, aortic arch surgery and experimental mitral valve surgery.
