Utilizing large longitudinal Norwegian population cohorts (MoBa, HUNT, HUSK, Tromsø Study), which are genotyped and linked with national health registries, we can investigate genetic associations with brain disorders and their comorbidities. We are focusing on time dependent effects and interplay with the environment. Findings are further validated in deeply phenotyped Norwegian clinical cohorts (TOP, NORSMI, BUPGEN).
Key cohorts and collaborative efforts include:
- MoBa – the world’s largest prospective birth cohort, with 284.000 participants, including 55.000 trios of father, mother and child
- The Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC) – investigation of common and rare genetic variation contributing to liability to psychiatric and neurodevelopmental conditions
- The ENIGMA Consortium – understanding brain structure, function, and disease, based on brain imaging and genetics
- European Alzheimer’s & Dementia Biobank (EADB) – investigating the role of genetics from early cognitive impairment to Alzheimer’s disease and differential diagnosis.
