About the group

The research group investigates how pharmacotherapy can cause cardiovascular side effects and develops new pharmacological strategies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. In this work, we combine advanced experimental models, translational research, and clinical insight.

Our goal is to improve both the safety and efficacy of pharmacotherapy and to contribute to more precise, safe, and effective treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Longterm goals

Our longterm goal is to improve the safety and efficacy of pharmacotherapy by understanding and preventing cardiotoxic side effects, while developing new pharmacological strategies for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

Drugs used in oncology, psychiatry, and infectious diseases can cause serious cardiovascular complications. We therefore aim to create innovative approaches to predict and prevent such effects early in drug development and clinical practice. By integrating advanced experimental models, translational research, and clinical expertise, we strive to bridge the gap between therapeutic innovation and patient safety.

Ultimately, our research will contribute to more precise, safe, and effective treatments for cardiovascular disease and reduce the burden of drug-induced cardiac toxicity in patients worldwide.

Projects

These are our main current projects:

  • Cardiotoxic effects of psychotropic drugs
  • Detection and treatment of hypothermia-induced ventricular arrhythmias
  • Atherogenic effects of drugs resulting from liver endothelial injury
