Mandatory HSE courses

UiO offers a range of HSE courses to enable everyone to work safely in the laboratories. Depending on an individual's roles, the mandatory courses to be taken may differ.

Typically, the mandatory courses should be completed within the first year of employment. The online courses should be completed prior any work is taking place in the laboratories.

On overview of the courses offered by UiO can be found on the Policy for HSE expertise page. UiO maintains a record of who has attended which course. If you can show that you have taken similar courses in the past, for example at another institution, the relevant documentation should be sent to HMSB (Section for HSE and emergency preparedness) for checking, approval and registration.

It is important to note that all managers are required to take:

  • EITHER the HSE management system UiO – module 5 basic course
  • OR UiO's internal courses: HSE basic course module 5+6
