Our group aims to solve fundamental biological questions through the development of new methods in computational and systems biology.

Mathelier Group

We aim to develop cutting-edge bioinformatics tools with immediate application to real-life biological problems, such as gene expression regulation and cancer.

Saarela Group

Our research focuses on improving the understanding of biological pathways and pathogenic mechanisms behind rare and common immune diseases, especially primary immune deficiencies and multiple sclerosis, and utilizing the new knowledge to benefit patients.

Sahu Group

Our goal is precision targeting of malfunctioning gene regulatory elements in human cancer and other enhanceropathies.

Led by Camila Esguerra, the Zebrafish Core Facility provides comprehensive infrastructure, expertise and services for zebrafish-based research. We offer state-of-the-art housing systems, breeding facilities and specialized instrumentation to support both basic and translational studies.

Moreover, the research team is focused on exploring the fundamental mechanisms underlying brain function in health and disease.

Portrait of Johannes LandskonLandskron Team

Led by Johannes Landskron, the Chemical Biology High-Throughput Screening (HTS) Facility, established in 2008, provides cutting-edge expertise and infrastructure to support the discovery of small molecules that probe, explore and modulate biological systems. Equipped with advanced automated screening instrumentation, we work with both in-house compound libraries and proprietary compounds or biologics supplied by collaborators.
