Education and experience
Lei graduated from Institute of Hydrobiology, CAS in China, majoring in fish breeding and algorithm design for paternity testing. He then gained his first postdoc position in Guangzhou Medical University to study the mechanism of RNA function, especially their functions in stress granule assembly and the profiles of A-to-I RNA editing.
He is now a NORPOD postdoctoral researcher, co-supervised by Biswajyoti at NCMBM, and by Esa Pitkänen at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM).
Research Interests
Previously, his research interests focuseds on decyphring cancer development using machine learning models.
As a NORPOD fellow, he will seek to profile DNA methylation and chromatin accessibility in both cancer and normal cell lines to understand their impact on cancer development using ML models. Furthermore, DNA adducts could trigger somatic mutations with specific pattern of epigenomic landscape. Therefore, he will also investigate such bias in somatic mutations generated by epigenomic.
