Position: Senior Lecturer
Work Place: Physiology Department, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences
Proposal set by: Gustavo Jose Justo Da Silva, Tawhidul Islam.
I completed my PhD in Physiology in 2015 at the Department of Biosciences, UiO, and from then until 2023, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow and researcher at IBV. I have previously served as deputy representative for temporary academic staff on the University Board.
Over my nearly 15 years as a temporary academic employee at UiO, my research, teaching, supervision of numerous Master's and PhD students, internal and external examination work, and as leader of subjects, have provided me with valuable insight into various academic and organizational processes.
I know where the challenges lie, and I have seen how decision-making processes can play out. With my experience, I now wish to take a more active role in important decisions at my workplace.
Key elements of election program
- Increased academic autonomy – reverse the trend of increased political, administrative and bureaucratic governance.
- Reversing the "standardized-PhD-pathway" - freeing up time to work on the PhD, including removing the 30-credits requirement and reducing administrative time in the time-critical final stages of the PhD.
- Focus on quality over quantity - including dropping the "requirement" for at least 3 scientific articles and, more broadly, working against the publication counting system as it functions in practice today.
