Presentation

My work focuses on maternal and child health, global health and epidemiology, including research on interventions and strategies that can improve health services and public health in Norway and internationally. I am a professor of Public Health and Epidemiology and a physician with doctorates in pediatrics (dr.med.) and obstetrics/epidemiology (dr.philos.) from UiO.

I spent 20 years at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), holding a range of leadership roles before moving to UiO in 2023. My experience at NIPH encompasses research leadership and strategy, work to increase external funding and strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, the development of data and artificial intelligence (AI) expertise, and the management of major organizational changes. I believe this experience can be useful in addressing the major changes the Faculty Board will face over the next few years.

Key elements of election programme

I will work for:

  • A faculty that develops its full academic breadth, from basic research and clinical medicine to prevention and public health, and strengthens the links between research and education.
  • Organizational change guided by academic and strategic priorities, with meaningful staff involvement and clarity about the consequences for research, teaching and the working environment.
  • Better research support and incentives for collaboration across disciplines on major funding applications and international projects.
  • An active transition to AI-supported administration, research and teaching.
  • Prioritizing the recruitment of PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers, with clear career pathways that strengthen research communities over time
