Position: Researcher
Workplace: Department of Public Health and Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, Institute of Health and Society
Presentation
My research focuses on musculoskeletal conditions, particularly neck pain, prognostic models and patient pathways. My research has mainly involved clinical observational studies following patients over time. I am currently working on a three-year, externally funded project involving a registry-based study of healthcare use, sickness absence and disability pension among people with musculoskeletal conditions in Norway. I also teach and supervise master’s and PhD students.
I am a chiropractor with extensive clinical experience and hold a PhD from the University of Oslo. I have been affiliated with UiO since 2015, initially as a PhD candidate and, since 2021, as a researcher on externally funded projects.
Education
2021: PhD, University of Oslo.
2014: Master’s degree in Medical Ultrasound (Musculoskeletal), Bournemouth University.
2000: Cand.manu. in Clinical Biomechanics, University of Southern Denmark.
Why I am standing for election
After more than ten years in temporary positions, I am familiar with both the opportunities and the uncertainty of relying on new projects and external funding. I will work towards greater predictability and good working conditions for PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows and other temporary academic staff.
Key elements of election program
- Predictable career opportunities: Good career guidance and professional development for PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows and researchers, and consideration of permanent research positions where there is a long-term need for their expertise.
- Better transitions between projects: Explore measures to reduce uncertainty and gaps in income between projects and funding periods, including short-term salary support through bridge funding.
- Clear expectations and working conditions: Clearly defined expectations for research, teaching and supervision, with time and funding allocated to these tasks.
