Position: Postdoctoral Fellow
Workplace: Department of Community Medicine and Global Health, Institute of Health and Society
Presentation
I am standing for election to the Faculty Board to be a clear voice for temporary academic staff. I will advocate for meaningful career development, fewer barriers to permanent employment, and the prevention of recruitment freezes or cuts to academic positions in times of financial constraint.
I am a physician educated at the University of Oslo and have worked here since 2020. My clinical background is in gynaecology and general practice. I hold a PhD on endometriosis and am currently a postdoctoral researcher in the ContraMent project, which examines hormonal contraception and side effects.
Drawing on experience from boards, committees and public administration, I will bring both professional insight and a proven ability to get things done.
Key elements of election program
- Clear and fair arrangements for teaching obligations, ensuring that temporary academic staff are not required to undertake unpaid teaching beyond their contractual duties.
- Payment and competitive rates for teaching that falls outside the scope of the post. Expertise and competence should be properly recognised.
- Wider access to pedagogical training, which should not be limited to staff in permanent posts.
- Better support for temporary academic staff, including meaningful career development opportunities that prepare researchers for careers both within and beyond academia.
- Training, guidance, time and resources for oral presentation skills, professional networking, and applications for research funding.
