Background

Dr Stenehjem holds BSc and MSc degrees in exercise physiology and epidemiology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and the University of Verona (Italy). He obtained a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Oslo (Norway) in 2014, entitled ”Cancer incidence and occupational exposure in offshore oil industry workers”.

He conducted his postdoctoral training at the Cancer Registry of Norway’s Department of Research and at the Department of Oncology at Oslo University Hospital, focusing his research on lifestyle and occupational factors’ relation to cancer risk, and how lifestyle factors and cancer treatment affect pulmonary function and exercise capacity among cancer survivors.

He has today a joint affiliation as a researcher and co-principal investigator at the Oslo Center for Biostatistics and Epidemiology, University of Oslo and the Cancer Registry of Norway, where he studies exposure-related risks of respiratory cancers among offshore petroleum workers.
