About the Project

The study will be conducted through a survey distributed to women diagnosed with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH, inherited high cholesterol) and a randomly selected cohort of women in Norway.

Participants will be invited by mailed letters containing information and a link to the online questionnaire. Completing the survey takes approximately 10-20 minutes and includes general demographic questions and specific questions related to menstruation, and if relevant, pregnancy and menopause.

Background

The age of onset for the first menstruation and the age at menopause can influence the risk of future cardiovascular disease, but we know less about how these factors are related. The study is also conducted among women with familial hypercholesterolemia (FH). We therefore aim to investigate various factors related to menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause in women with and without high cholesterol.
