Current role and affiliations

Eirini Giannakopoulou is a postdoctoral researcher in the Cancer Immunotherapy Group led by Prof. Johanna Olweus at Oslo University Hospital – The Norwegian Radiumhospitalet.

She completed her PhD in the same group and defended her thesis in 2022. Her work is grounded in cancer immunology, with particular expertise in human T-cell biology and translational immunotherapy.

Research interests and focus

Her research focuses on the development of T-cell receptor (TCR)–based cancer immunotherapies targeting intracellular tumor antigens. She has contributed to the identification and characterization of tumor-reactive TCRs directed against both lineage-restricted antigens and shared recurrent mutations in hematological malignancies, demonstrating potent and selective elimination of leukemia cells in preclinical models. Through this work, she aims to advance next-generation TCR-engineered T-cell therapies toward clinical application.
