Project

My postdoctoral project "Novel Mycobacterial Tolerance Inhibitors (MTIs) against Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis" is an international collaborative project on global initiative on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) funded by EU "The Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR)" through The Research Council of Norway. Our collaborators have developed a new class of substances, called MTIs, with the potential to inhibit Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) biofilm formation and re-sensitize isoniazid resistant Mtb strains. My work focuses on testing these in different types of resistant and multi-resistant clinical Mtb isolates and as well as defining their mechanism of action. I also study whether MTIs work in synergy with other new and classic TB drugs. This front-line project is relevant to both drug discovery and precision medicine in general.
