Prosjekt

Postdoktor-prosjektet mitt “Novel Mycobacterial Tolerance Inhibitors (MTIs) against Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis” er et internasjonalt samarbeidsprosjekt innen den globale satsningen mot antimikrobiell resistens (AMR) finansiert av EU “The Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR)”, kanalisert via Norges forskningsråd. Våre samarbeidspartnere har utviklet en ny klasse med nye medikamenter, 2-pyridoner kalt MTIs, med potensiale for å hemme Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) biofilm-dannelse og re-sensitivisere isoniazid-resistente Mtb-stammer. Mitt arbeid er å oppdage MTI’s virkningsmekanisme ved hjelp av høy-oppløselig massespektrometri og mutantanalyse. Jeg tester også om MTIs virker på ulike klasser av resistente og multiresistente kliniske Mtb-isolater i P3-lab og i synergi med andre nye og klassiske TB-medikamenter. Dette frontlinjeprosjektet er relevant for både drug discovery og presisjsonsmedisin generelt.
