In the study, 102 participants in cannabis cessation programs (CCP) were included and 3/4 completed the entire 8-week program. After 8 weeks, half had completely stopped using cannabis (intention-to-treat analyses).

Quitting cannabis was associated with lower symptom burden for mental distress and better well-being. Those who stopped using cannabis reported less socializing with friends who use drugs.

The study shows that low-threshold CCP courses have a significant potential to reduce cannabis use, and to contribute to cannabis-smoking cessation.
