Our research group focuses on clinical problems and to answer pressing question in proof-of-concept clinical trials within the fields of heart failure, inflammatory heart disease, and the care for heart transplant recipients.

About the group

Our group specializes in testing medical hypotheses in small, randomized trials. We have historically focused on inflammation in heart disease, but have gradually also done a lot of research on cardiometabolic diseases and post-transplantation cardiology.

We have also looked at the role of inflammatory peptides and other circulating peptides in the development of heart disease, primarily linked to the development of heart failure. We have tested various biomarkers in blood to find their role in diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutic treatment in various cardiovascular diseases, especially heart failure.

Our research projects are mainly self-initiated, but we also participate in commissioned studies, especially where we can have a central role. We want to link scholarship holders to all our projects and to ensure the efficient implementation of good Ph.D. courses.

The group comprises doctors, researchers and nurses.

Long-term goals

  • Initiate and carry out proof-of-concept randomized studies within clinically important cardiac medical issues
  • Maintain and develop national and international collaboration with well-known cardiovascular research environments
  • Publish results in quality medical journals with peer review
  • Initiate Ph.D. projects
  • Produce at least one dissertation from the group each year
