About the project

In FatVersusBile stands for Fatty liver versus autoimmunity of the bile ducts - defining the gut signals driving steatosis and inflammatory disease of the gut-liver axis, and investigates the importance of intestinal disease and gut microbiome for liver health by studying liver health in inflammatory bowel disease.

Principal goals

Why do some people get bile duct disease and others get fatty liver disease, while most people still have a healthy liver?

The goal is to find gut signals that drive liver health in order to exploit this in treatment and prevention.
