YIM Programme

Organised to take place in advance of the Nordic EMBL Partnership meeting, the Young Investigators' Meeting (YIM) is specifically tailored for PhD students and post-doctoral fellows. It aims to introduce new concepts and enhance the interpersonal and professional skills of doctoral and post-doctoral scientists.

Monday Sept 16^th

12:30 - 13:30 Registration, light lunch and meet-up: a chance for you to get to know each other, and make connections across the Nordic nodes.

13:30 - 14:30 Invited speaker: Magnus Gulbrandsen, Professor and Centre Director of OSIRIS - Olso Institute for Research on the Impact of Science. His talk is entitled: "How does research make an impact? What can we do to make this impact happen?"

14:30 - 15:00 Coffee and snacks.

15:00 - 16:00 Invited speaker: Sigrid Bratlie, Strategic Advisor at the Norwegian Cancer Society and science communicator with particular interests in biotechnology, science and ethical issues.

16:00 - onwards Team building puzzles and challenges, followed by dinner.

Tuesday Sept 17^th

9:00 - 16:30 Leadership and management skills workshop for doctoral and post-doctoral scientists, delivered by hfp consulting.

Description of the workshop

We will engage participants in interactive activities aimed at fostering meaningful connections and bringing people together. Trainers will provide a dynamic and engaging platform to explore leadership concepts in a playful manner, enhancing community engagement. Through interactive discussions and hands-on activities, participants will gain insights into leadership concepts, empowering them to become effective leaders in the future.
