SHEtalk: Concepts in Dutch healthcare policy: an ethnographic study on ambiguity in policymaking

Appropriate care is described as socially sustainable care, high-quality care, patient-oriented care, dignified care and meaningful care. How can healthcare actors engage with the ambiguity of this concept in a policy making process?

Welcome to this very first SHEtalk in spring semester 2024! SHEtalks are lectures by researcher working in the field of medical humanities.

A new concept in medical care

Appropriate care is a new concept used in Dutch healthcare to guide and govern healthcare structures and services. Because the concept has not been clearly defined yet, it is unclear how appropriate care can be embedded and guide everyday care. The focus of this presentation is on how healthcare actors engage with the ambiguity of the concept of appropriate care in a policy making process.
