Abstract
This seminar will delve into the complex interplay between intuition, trustworthiness, and trust. It will begin by analyzing key perspectives on trust, which often either prioritize cognitive processes or acknowledge emotions and affects, but only as part of a neatly organized dual structure − which is in essence complementary with the cognitive understanding of how we start trusting each other.
I will then argue that intuitions, by being both cognitive and affective, offer a more comprehensive understanding of trustworthiness. I will also explore how inferential and holistic intuitions influence our perceptions of trustworthiness, particularly during crises, such as pandemics or natural disasters, shedding light on their role in shaping how we build and maintain trust.
