CanCell seminar with Thomas Melia: "Mechanisms of lipid flux during autophagosome biogenesis"

We are very happy to present Thomas Meila as our next CanCell invited speaker. He is Associate Professor in Cell Biology at Yale University. Prior to his talk we will feature a young shot talk by CanCell's own Matthew Ng from the Autophagy group.

Mechanisms of lipid flux during autophagosome biogenesis

Abstract: How an autophagosome grows has been a decades-long question in cell biology. Apparently separate from the classic vesicle trafficking pathways available in the cell, autophagosomes must tap into alternative approaches to gather lipids and expand their membranes. He will discuss recent work towards characterizing these alternative lipid flux pathways.

Matthew Ng will talk about his PhD project : "The role of cholesterol and cholesterol transport proteins in starvation-induced autophagy".
