How can scientific research inform us on optimal diet and lifestyle in order to live long and healthy lives?
Dear all CanCell members
The last CanCell seminar this year is virtually arranged on Zoom the 16th of December from 14-16.
The next CanCell seminar scheduled for Friday November 27th at 14:00 hrs. This seminar will be held on Zoom.
Invited Speaker: Claus Jørgensen, Systems Oncology Group Leader, Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute
Introducing 'young shot' talk:
Nathalia Chica, Cancer Molecular Medicine, CanCell, UiO & Department of Molecular Cell Biology, ICR, OUH: "Genome-wide regulatory landscape of autophagy dynamics in budding yeast".
We will hold the Annual CanCell Retreat 2020 at Quality Hotel 33. This event is for members and invited only.
CanCell Young Scientists has the pleasure to invite you to Alumni Day, an event where you can come and find out about opportunities outside of academia. With only 3% of PhDs that obtain professor positions, it is high time to discuss attractive possibilities away from this institute and the university. We have invited a selection of scientists who will be able to answer your questions concerning how they got to where they are, with a focus on the transition process. Some of the participants have outlined two challenges they encountered when moving away from academia, which we hope will trigger some questions from you.
Read the participants’ biographies carefully and come prepared for this event! Half of the event is based on Q & A, and this will only be successful if the audience participates. We hope you are able to make the best of this opportunity!
We are happy to invite Philippe Collas, professor at Institute for Basic Medical Sciences and associated member at CanCell to hold a digital seminar for CanCell on August 20th. His talk is titled: "Aspects of 3D genome topology during differentiation" and will be preceded by flash talks from our junior grant recipients.
CanCell is investing in technologies for advanced genetic manipulation, and is currently facilitating a centre-wide collaboration effort on the preparation and execution of pooled CRISPR screens. This workshop will focus on exposing some of the newest technologies available in the centre, and to explore and discuss novel ideas, setting seeds for potentially new and exciting projects amongst the young scientists in the CanCell.
CanCell will host an online seminar with professor Andrea Ballabio from Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine of Pozzuoli. Maja Radulovic, CanCell will give a Young Shot talk prior to Ballabio's presentation.
The seminar will be arranged online on Zoom.
Our user panel have graciously agreed to give individual feedback on Cancer Society and Helse Sør-Øst Open Call applications for preregistered applicants* among CanCell scientist.
Ragnhild Eskeland is organizing the Fourth Epigenetics Symposium, which is postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. CanCell is coorganzing this event, and it will be open for CanCell members.
We have invited César Serrano from Vall'd Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO), Barcelona, and are delighted to have him speak at the second CanCell seminar in 2020. We are also happy to present Heidi Maria Namløs as Young Shot speaker prior to César's talk.

Rigorous scientific methodology:
from data quantitation to hypothesis testing and model inference
We are honored to present Professor Marta Miączyńska from The Laboratory of Cell Biology, International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, Warsaw, as the first speaker of the CanCell seminars for 2020.
The title of her talk is: Inflammatory signaling from endosomes in cancer cell biology
