Get ready for Scientia Fellows II
The preparation for the new, major international postdoctoral programme – Scientia Fellows II – has started. The EU grant provides 250 new person years at the faculty.
Scientia Fellows II
The Scientia Fellows II programme takes over from its forerunner – Scientia Fellows – which ends the same year. More than 80 scientists have been affiliated with the latter programme since its start in 2014. This time, approximately 100 postdoctoral researchers will be employed at the Faculty between 2019 and 2024.
– Scientia Fellows has been such a success for all involved. Several of the programme fellows have been recruited at the faculty after their Scientia Fellows programme-periods. We are looking forward to recruit more young research talents to our Faculty, but first we need to recruit hosts, says Hilde Nebb, Vice Dean of Research and Innovation.
Starting the preparations
Nebb and the rest of the Programme Office has started the preparation for the new programme. Firstly, they will visit institutes and research groups to inform about the possibility of becoming a hosts of the programme.
Online form to submit interest to become a Host will be available from February 2019 until beginning of April 2019.
The first call will be announced in May the same year.

Focus on transferable skills
Scientia Fellows led to the creation of the two career development programmes - School of Health Innovation and the Postdoctoral Programme. Both of the programmes will be available for fellows of Scientia Fellows II.
– Our main objective with the Scientia Fellows-programmes is to give talented postdoctoral fellows the tools and knowledge to build a solid career within research. This is why we have developed two career development programmes, which will provide the transferable skills that is necessary, Nebb says.
In this new edition of the EU COFUND programme, career development for young and promising researchers is a cornerstones. In addition, value creation will be an important focus of Scientia Fellows II.
— It responds to a demand from our health researchers, namely closer interaction and cooperation with industry and business clusters to bolster value creation through the research we conduct, Nebb says.
Scientia Fellows II SF II is encouraging cooperation with non-academic sector - for instance, industry, business, governmental organisation - to foster exposure of the young researchers to non-academic sectors during their fellowships.
