Only one candidate stood for the election of Dean for the period 2027–2030. In accordance with the University of Oslo’s election regulations (§ 26, item 2), the election is in such cases not conducted as an ordinary election among staff and students. Instead, the current faculty board is responsible for electing the Dean.

The Faculty Board at the Faculty of Medicine therefore held an extraordinary meeting on 19 August 2026 to consider the election of Dean. For the candidate to be regarded as elected, a majority of all elected representatives on the board is required. At the extraordinary meeting, all members of the board voted in favour, and the result was that Dean Hanne Flinstad Harbo was re-elected as Dean for the next term 2027–2030.

The Dean’s team continues with the same members

Harbo stood for re-election together with her Dean’s team, «Team Flinstad Harbo», which will therefore continue in its current composition, but with some adjustments to roles and areas of responsibility. This is described in their election platform.

The Dean’s team will consist of Dean Hanne Flinstad Harbo, Pro-Dean for Research and Innovation and Deputy for the Dean Jan G. Bjålie, Pro-Dean for Education Magnus Løberg, Vice-Dean for Researcher Education Grete Dyb, and Vice-Dean for Strategic Development Eli Feiring.

The team’s vision remains «Excellent knowledge for the health of the future», and they aim to continue their long-term and strategic work to further strengthen the faculty. The Dean’s team emphasises being visible leaders who involve both staff and students in important decision-making processes. Read their full election platform.
