    The Centre for Global Health (CGH) would like to welcome Ernst Kristian Rødland to the Technical Advisory Board leading the One Health Signatory Theme. One Health takes a holistic, cross and multidisciplinary view and aims to promote and improve the health of humans, animals and the environment taking into account the interdependence of different milieus.

  • 3n7a4458 Report: Gathering for the Future of Global Health: Norway's strategy "Better Health, Better Lives" Launch Event Dec. 16, 2019

    On November 22, at the Universitetets Aula (University Hall) of the University of Oslo (UiO), a gathering for the future of Global Health was co-organized by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services and supported by the Centre for Global Health, UiO. This event launched Norway’s strategy “Better Health, Better lives – Combating Non-Communicable Diseases in the Context of the Norwegian development Policy 2020-2024.” The government’s new strategy aims to contribute to reducing the number of premature deaths from non-communicable diseases in low-income countries by a third by 2030 (Sustainable Development Goal 3.4), and generally to improve people’s health through the life course.

    On November 22, leading experts and specialists in the field of health and environment gathered in Oslo for the launch event of the 2019 report of the Lancet Countdown on health and climate change. The Centre for Global Health (CGH), University of Oslo (UiO) and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH) co-organized the event. The 2019 annual report focuses on the negative impacts of climate change on health and emphasizes the need for immediate action towards conserving health and the climate.
