Stefan Krauss (MD) is a professor and the director of the Centre of Excellence Hybrid Technology Hub at the Institute of Medical Biology, University of Oslo, and Oslo University Hospital (https://www.med.uio.no/hth/english/).
With a background in medicine, developmental biology, developmental signalling, and micro-physiological systems, he is recognized for discovering the key vertebrate signal Shh, which the journal Nature considers one of the 24 Milestones in Development (https://www.nature.com/articles/nrn1469).
His research currently focuses on utilizing morphogenetic signalling to enhance organoid development and chip integration. He leads the European Innovation Council-funded project, Supervised Morphogenesis (SUMO; https://supervised-morphogenesis.eu), and is a member of the Wellcome Leap “Dynamic Resilience” consortium, coordinated by Professor Peter Loskill, which aims to develop micro-physiological systems for modeling age-dependent responses to stressors (https://wellcomeleap.org/dr/program/).
Prof Krauss has published 130 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals, including Cell, Nature, and various Nature Journals, and six patents.
