About the project
Dementia is a major challenge for public health. With an aging population, the extent of dementia and the burden on society will only increase.
Norwegian municipalities have challenges in handling the number of dementia patients. We want to make it possible for municipal health services to meet the increasing demand for early diagnosis of dementia.
The AgeCare project aims to improve diagnosis of dementia. We want to shorten the time from the patient or relative start worrying about dementia until they have a precise diagnosis to deal with. This can reduce both time and worries for the patient and their relative.
An earlier and more precise diagnosis can lead to faster intervention and a more personalized health service.
Objectives
The overall objective of the AgeCare project is to develop a digital tool for use in municipal health services, in order to diagnose dementia at an earlier stage and with greater precision.
Research based on genetic data and brain imaging has suggested that we can use advanced mathematical models and artificial intelligence for this.
In the AgeCare project, we will combine large amounts of data from Norwegian registries and biobanks, together with technology from machine learning.
Using a mathematical algorithm (“AD Digital Avatar”), a user-friendly clinical digital tool for diagnostic support (“AD Cockpit”) will be developed that municipalities can use in their health services.
