Advancing Cross-Border Life Science Innovation
The Hanseatic Life Science Research Infrastructure Consortium (HALRIC) is a three-year EU-funded initiative uniting research facilities, companies, hospitals, and academia across Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Norway. Led by Lund University and supported by the Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak programme, HALRIC aims to boost innovation in the ÖKS-Hamburg region by improving access to advanced life science infrastructures.
By fostering collaboration around large-scale facilities like MAX IV, DESY, ESS, and European XFEL, as well as cutting-edge tools such as cryoEM, 7Tesla-MR, and advanced biological mass spectrometry, HALRIC empowers cross-border research and development. These technologies support everything from sample preparation to pre-clinical and clinical studies, bringing innovation closer to patient care.
HALRIC supports pilot projects and invites research proposals from academia, hospitals, and industry (including SMEs and large pharma). The project also focuses on developing data management solutions and strengthening regional life science ecosystems and strategic dialogue across borders.
With 21 partners, HALRIC builds the foundation for interdisciplinary collaboration, aiming to unlock the full potential of the region’s life science sector.
