Collaboration is fundamental to the Norwegian Centre for Molecular Biosciences and Medicine. We actively engage with national and international partners to advance research in molecular biosciences and medicine. As part of the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine, we work closely with leading research institutions across Europe, fostering scientific exchange and shared innovation. The Centre follows the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) model of recruitment, attracting top talent from around the world and ensuring a dynamic and internationally competitive research environment.
Within Norway, we collaborate extensively with the biosciences community, including the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MATNAT) at the University of Oslo and the Michael Sars Centre for Marine Molecular Biology in Bergen. Our focus on translational research is reflected by our Group Leaders, who hold adjunct appointments in clinical or para-clinical departments at Oslo University Hospital. Additionally, the Centre has built a national network of Associate Investigators — outstanding researchers selected through a competitive process based on scientific excellence and translational merit. This network has expanded over the years to include 47 scientists across Norway.
On the international stage, our investigators engage in numerous collaborations worldwide, including strong research ties with the other Nordic EMBL nodes and the EMBL. Through these national and global collaborations, we strengthen the link between biomedical science, biosciences, and clinical applications, supporting Norway’s role in the international research landscape.
